Meet the Marshals
Fire Marshal David J. Roth recently was appointed as Fire Marshal for the Town of Vernon in October, 2004. Fire Marshal Roth has been in the fire service for 31 years, joining the East Hartford Fire Department in 1975. He obtained Fire Marshal certification in 1989 and retired as Fire Marshal from East Hartford in 2003. He attended Hartford State Technical College and has taken many classes relating to the fire service from the National and State Fire Academies. He is certified as a Public Fire and Life Safety Educator by the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress.
Fire Marshal Roth currently serves on the Board of Directors of the New England Association of Fire Marshals, is a Past-President of the CT Fire Marshal's Association and, is active in many other fire service organizations. He lived and attended school in Vernon from 1956 until 1969 and has resided in Tolland for the last 22 years. Deputy Fire Marshal Daniel J. Greenwood recently completed the 12th annual Connecticut Advanced Fire Investigation School at the Connecticut Fire Academy. DFM Greenwood completed the State of Connecticut Pre-certification course for Fire Marshal in 2005. DFM Greenwood was officially sworn in on December 8th 2006 to the Vernon Fire Marshal's office. DFM Greenwood came to the office with a bachelor's degree in Fire Investigation from the University of New Haven. He also has been in the fire service with the Town of Vernon Fire Department going on 12 years and is currently a Captain of ET-441 after climbing through the ranks. He is a certified fire service instructor and has taken many classes relating to fire fighting. DFM Greenwood will be working out of the office on a as needed basis. At this time, he is concentrating on assisting with fire investigations or filling in when the Fire Marshal is unavailable. Deputy Fire Marshal Greenwood will continue to further his education in the fields of fire investigation and prevention as well as all aspects of the Fire Marshal's office and Fire Department activities.
